See what's in the dark —
before you commit.

Some decisions can't be undone. Our instruments examine the reasoning behind one — its assumptions, its blind spots, its true cost — while there is still time to change your mind.

In the dark, every option looks the same.

Fear feels like urgency. A hunch wears the mask of a fact. The cost you cannot see is usually the one that changes everything.

The instrument

It doesn't advise. It measures.

Describe the decision. The instrument interrogates the structure of your reasoning and returns what it observed — counted, never guessed. No score it can't justify, no advice it isn't entitled to give. What you do next stays yours.

How to read the scorecard

The scorecard is a readout, not a verdict. It reports what the examination observed across four dimensions of your reasoning — each a plain count you can trace straight back to your own words. There is no single number grading the decision, because a number like that would be an opinion wearing the costume of a measurement.

Assumptions
What you're taking as given
Every claim the decision rests on, separated into the ones your own reasoning supports and the ones nothing yet backs.
Blind spots
What you haven't looked at
Factors the examination raised that your description never touched — the questions you didn't know to ask.
Evidence gaps
Where belief outruns proof
The points you're most certain about that rest on the least — named, so you can go and close them.
Confidence
Before, and after
Your own certainty, measured once at the start and again once the gaps are visible. A drop isn't failure — it's the fog lifting.

The Professional Advice Filter

“Before money changes hands, before contracts are signed, before leverage disappears.”

A decision-interrogation toolkit for the narrow window before you hire an advisor, consultant, contractor or expert. It doesn't tell you what to decide — it tells you whether the advice is stable enough to act on. Sound advice strengthens under scrutiny; the rest reveals itself early.

What it catches — the five failure patterns

01
Credential Shielding
Titles and reputation standing in for transparent reasoning.
02
Obscured Incentives
A fee structure that quietly rewards one outcome over yours.
03
Complexity Theater
Jargon where a clear cause and effect should be.
04
Urgency Framing
Manufactured time pressure that discourages scrutiny.
05
Outcome Evasion
Success left undefined until after you've committed.
